Automating Tip Payouts for Duffy's Restaurants and ADP Wisely

For multi-location restaurant groups, getting daily tip data into payroll accurately and on time is a constant operational headache. InControl Solutions recently completed a custom software integration for Duffy's that automates the entire process — pulling tip data directly from their POSitouch POS system and delivering it to ADP Wisely every day without any manual steps. The result is a reliable, hands-off process that removes the risk of errors and saves management time across every location. This is the kind of work we've been doing for over 25 years — building the integrations between POS systems and payroll or accounting platforms that the POS vendors don't provide out of the box. If your restaurant group has a similar gap between your POS and your back-office systems, we'd be glad to talk about what a solution might look like for you. Streamlining Restaurant Data for Consolidated Restaurant Operations

InControl Solutions recently partnered with Consolidated Restaurant Operations, Inc. (CRO) to solve a critical data pipeline challenge. CRO needed a reliable way to get their Toast POS reporting data into their Cognos business intelligence platform, but a traditional API integration wasn't the right fit. We built a custom Windows application that connects to CRO's Amazon-hosted SFTP server, automatically retrieves scheduled Toast report exports, and imports the data directly into their SQL Server database — no manual file handling required. The solution covers three key areas: a Menu Mix module for detailed item and modifier sales data, a Daily Sales module aligned to CRO's general ledger categories, and a pre-processing automation layer that handles file detection, routing, and archiving. With built-in Task Scheduler support, configuration management, and detailed logging, CRO's team now has a hands-off process that keeps their BI reporting current and accurate. It...

Toast to QuickBooks Integration: How the Incontrolpos and iPOSio Stacks Up Against the Competition

Toast to QuickBooks Integration: How We Stack Up Against the Competition When it comes to connecting your Toast POS system with QuickBooks Online, restaurant owners have several options - but not all integrations are created equal. While solutions like xtraCHEF and Shogo offer comprehensive feature sets, they come with premium price tags and complex setups that many independent restaurants simply don't need. Our streamlined approach delivers exactly what most restaurant owners actually use: reliable, automated daily sales journal entries at a fraction of the cost. The Premium Players vs. The Smart Choice xtraCHEF, owned by Toast, offers an extensive suite of invoice processing, inventory management, and cost analysis tools alongside their QuickBooks integration. While impressive, this comprehensive approach requires a premium subscription and can overwhelm restaurant owners who simply want their daily sales data flowing seamlessly into QuickBooks. Shogo, another popular option...

Toast is popular, but not yet profitable

Toast's software platform is gaining popularity, but the company is still facing significant financial losses. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, Toast lost $83 million, and the total loss for the past year reached $248 million. The company is operating at a loss to achieve a substantial market presence, but there's no assurance it will become profitable. Harvest Restaurants, POSitouch and PayChex

Harvest Restaurants ( http://www.harvestrestaurants.com  ) needed a solution to integrate their POSitouch Time and Attendance ( http://www.positouch.com ) with the PayChex Payroll Solution ( http://www.paychex.com ) . With 8 locations, it was taking a lot of time to enter the hours and tips into PayChex. The iPOS Payroll integration for POSitouch automated the process and significantly reduced the time it took to process a pay cycle. Store managers now simply click a button, and the import file gets created. They email the file to the corporate office for uploading to PayChex. The solution is simple and very cost effective for Harvest.

Energy Kitchen RPower SpreadSheet Application

When Energy Kitchen ( http://www.energykitchen.com/ ) updated from an RPower POS system to the Aloha POS System, they needed access to the historical data from their RPower POS system. Retail Automation Products (RAP http://rap-pos.com/ ) asked InControl Software to develop an application to read the RPower database and provide reports. InControl Software built this app and provided all the reports in the Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The end result was an easy to use application with selectable dates and on screen viewing of the data in a spreadsheet that could be accessed with Excel or Open Office.

gPOS Aloha to Google Docs

gPOS Aloha to Google Docs is an application that allows restaurant operators the ability to get important restaurant sales and labor figures in a spreadsheet format, anywhere they have an internet connection and not have to rely on an expensive web based database application or have monthly subscription based costs. We have been getting very positive comments on this application and it comes with a free 15 day trial. In addition to the spreadsheet reports, it also has the capability to send text messages to your cell phone. These messages show sales, labor/sales percentages, guest counts and check averages. They can be sent as many times as you need throughout the day and provide real time info to your cell phones. Great for managers as they don't even need to go in the BOH to get important sales and cost info.
