Streamlining Restaurant Data for Consolidated Restaurant Operations


InControl Solutions recently partnered with Consolidated Restaurant Operations, Inc. (CRO) to solve a critical data pipeline challenge. CRO needed a reliable way to get their Toast POS reporting data into their Cognos business intelligence platform, but a traditional API integration wasn't the right fit. We built a custom Windows application that connects to CRO's Amazon-hosted SFTP server, automatically retrieves scheduled Toast report exports, and imports the data directly into their SQL Server database — no manual file handling required.

The solution covers three key areas: a Menu Mix module for detailed item and modifier sales data, a Daily Sales module aligned to CRO's general ledger categories, and a pre-processing automation layer that handles file detection, routing, and archiving. With built-in Task Scheduler support, configuration management, and detailed logging, CRO's team now has a hands-off process that keeps their BI reporting current and accurate. It's a great example of how a focused, practical solution can eliminate tedious manual work and give restaurant operators faster access to the data they need.
